CONTEXT

The Africa Political Outlook annual summit brings together senior African and European political figures, diplomats and institutional representatives for a high-level evening dialogue. The 2026 edition, held at the AfricaMuseum in Tervuren, included a former President of Malawi, a sitting minister from Zambia, and ambassadors from across the continent. The event required an MC who could hold the room with the confidence and institutional register that such a guest list demands: managing the programme flow, navigating protocol, and maintaining the right tone across a bilingual, diplomatic audience.

MY ROLE

I was brought in to host the first day programme: scripting, staging and managing the flow of the summit from opening to close, handling speaker introductions, moderating audience interaction and ensuring the event ran to time while preserving the gravitas the occasion required. I prepared thoroughly for each speaker's background and the day’s thematic arc, and adapted in real time to last-minute changes in the programme.

  • A smooth, high-quality summit evening that met the expectations of a senior diplomatic audience

  • Positive feedback from the organising team and guests on tone, preparation and programme management
